  "Last year I had a tremendous learning experience at Mike's Fly Fishing School and I just had to return for more this year. Mike tailored the experience to what I had already learned and taught me so many new skills. But just as importantly (or perhaps more so!) he identified all the bad habits I'd picked up over the last year and helped me refine my casting skills. I'm still pretty green at this and Mike is unbelievably patient and eagle eyed. He sees everything you do and can constructively critique cast after cast. It's really incredible. He thoroughly answered the bazillion questions I'd ask about reading the water, bugs, lines, riggings, ethical fishing, you name it. He truly knew the waters we fished and I just had a magnificent time fishing and learning. And besides learning a lot, I also caught some nice fish! I'm already booked for another guided trip with him later this year because I can't imagine a better guide."

  "Mike Pease led a three day fly fishing clinic at Greenhorn Ranch just outside of Quincy California. The group of about 12 included women who had never touched a fly fishing pole to women who had an intermediate level of experience. He divided us up into three teams and the small groups were especially effective. We spent a day learning basics about entomology, knots, equipment, and casting. We practiced first in a private stocked pond which was brilliant. It gave all of us a chance to see what it was like to hook a trout, bass or blue gill before we hit the Feather River for some more challenging fishing. At the river we learned to read the water, adapt our flies by watching the insects at the river, and how to cast in spots that were more challenging due to the terrain. He also covered safety which we all thought was especially helpful. Mike is a professional instructor when he is not fly fishing and it shows. We had handouts, practices, hands-on experiences and lots of fun. I have taken fly fishing lessons before and none came close to being as informative and effective as Mike's class. He was perfect for our group and every participant seemed thrilled with the class. And yes, every person on the trip caught at least one fish. I cannot recommend him highly enough and I plan to take another lesson before the season is over. I might even take my husband. ;-)

  "My wife and I spent one full day fly fishing with Mike Pease in the Sierra Nevada. Prior to this trip we had basically no fly fishing experience. Mike is a fantastic teacher and we were managing to cast (and were actually catching fish) very early on in the day. We visited four different sites all of which were incredibly beautiful and for lunch we stopped at a microbrewery in the forest. The whole day was incredibly enjoyable. Mike is very kind and friendly, he is a pleasure to spend time with. We would definitely recommend guiding with him and hope to guide with him again. Should add that he was very well prepared. Had all the necessary equipment. And he has a very good teaching style."

My very first experience fly fishing was being instructed by Mike, both off and on the river he is patient, thoughtful, experienced and his passion for the area shines through in each one of my experiences fishing with him. He knows the locals too around this beautiful river and will take you to awesome lunch spots along with his hand made lunches!   "Adventure started a few months back when Mike Pease gave a good friend and I private lessons on the craft of fly-fishing. Needless to say, we were both hooked! We finally got our first opportunity to fly-fish and went out with Mike on the North Fork of the Feather River. What a day to remember! We had action all day. With expert instruction and a lot of patience from Mike, between the bountiful strikes and missed nettings do to my inexperience, I was able to net and photo 4 beautiful Native Rainbow Trout.
